EnviroWaste - Depacking Machine Installation – Mavitec System Integration Project
EnviroWaste required the installation of a new Mavitec depacking machine, imported from Europe, to increase processing efficiency and support growth in their waste recovery operations.
Challenge / Objective
EnviroWaste required the installation of a new Mavitec depacking machine, imported from Europe, to increase processing efficiency and support growth in their waste recovery operations. The challenge was integrating a complex and sizeable piece of fixed plant into an already constrained operational facility, without interrupting business continuity.
Ramek was engaged as the Project Manager to oversee design review, vendor coordination, layout development, and the successful installation of the equipment while ensuring compliance with New Zealand industrial safety regulations.
Our Approach
To confirm feasibility and minimise operational disruption, Ramek first completed a detailed site survey, assessing access, spatial limits, workflow impacts, and integration requirements. This information informed the development of a 3D CAD model, created with direct input from Ramek to explore multiple layout options and ensure all engineering, operational, and safety constraints were fully addressed before installation.
Design documentation from Mavitec was carefully reviewed by Ramek, with regular technical meetings held with the vendor’s engineering team in the Netherlands. This ensured alignment on installation requirements, compliance considerations, and necessary modifications for NZ standards.
Ramek managed the programme, budget, stakeholder liaison, and installation planning, coordinating closely with EnviroWaste’s Operations Manager and the appointed local contractor. This collaborative approach ensured that each party had clear visibility of the schedule, responsibilities, and site readiness.
A full Safety and Risk Assessment process was led by Ramek, involving EnviroWaste and Mavitec, to verify that guarding, isolations, and access requirements met New Zealand’s safety regulations for fixed plant.
Through careful planning and proactive engagement, Ramek enabled the installation to proceed without requiring an extended shutdown, allowing EnviroWaste to maintain operations and avoid any loss of business.
Results / Outcomes
Successful installation and integration of the Mavitec depacking machine within a tightly constrained operational facility.
3D CAD model developed with Ramek input, ensuring accurate spatial planning and mitigation of all layout and access constraints.
No extended shutdown required, preventing operational downtime and saving the client significant revenue.
Seamless collaboration between Ramek, EnviroWaste’s Operations Manager, and local contractors, enabling a smooth installation process.
Clear communication with the overseas vendor, ensuring timely delivery and alignment of technical requirements.
Compliance with NZ regulatory requirements verified through a comprehensive safety and risk assessment.
