Challenge / Objective
MB Century engaged Ramek to manage and deliver the site works scope for the first phase of the Wiri 1 Hydrogen Project - one of New Zealand’s pioneering renewable hydrogen production facilities.
The objective was to establish the foundations, civil infrastructure, and services interfaces required for the future hydrogen plant installation. The works had to be executed on a constrained operational industrial site with strict safety and environmental controls, under tight time and cost parameters.
Ramek was appointed as the lead Project Manager on site, responsible for coordinating multiple contractors, overseeing day-to-day delivery, ensuring compliance with design and specification, and maintaining progress toward MB Century’s critical milestones.
Our Approach
Ramek implemented a structured and collaborative delivery model, integrating MB Century’s engineering team, specialist vendors, and subcontractors under clear communication and reporting channels. Our onsite project management team provided daily supervision, quality assurance, and H&S leadership, ensuring construction activities met both technical and safety expectations.
Through robust planning tools, including live tracked Gantt scheduling, cost management dashboards, and risk reviews, Ramek maintained full visibility of progress and proactively addressed design or interface challenges as they arose.
Close liaison with utility providers and regulatory bodies ensured compliance and avoided delays in approvals. Despite evolving site conditions and sequencing challenges, Ramek delivered the Phase 1 works on time, safely, and within budget, providing a reliable platform for the subsequent hydrogen plant installation.
